Consistent Notes lives in your menu bar — there when you need it, tucked away when you don’t. This page covers installing it, starting your trial, and the handful of settings worth knowing on day one.

Requirements

• A Mac running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
• An Apple ID (for the App Store download and subscription)

Install from the Mac App Store

1. Open the App Store on your Mac and search for Consistent Notes, or get it here directly.
2. Click Get, then Install.
3. When it first opens, Consistent Notes adds its icon to the right side of your menu bar.

Start your free trial

The first time you open the app you’ll see the subscription screen.

1. Choose a plan — $1.99/month or $19.99/year (save 16%).
2. Click Start Free Trial. Your 14-day trial begins when you confirm in the App Store sheet.
3. The trial is the full app, no feature limits. When it ends, the subscription screen returns and you can subscribe or walk away.

You can see days remaining in your trial in Settings → Subscription. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, in your App Store account settings (Manage Subscriptions). If you reinstall or switch Macs, Restore Purchases recovers your subscription.

The two-minute setup

Three settings are worth a look on day one. Open them with ⌘, (Settings lives in the gear menu in the app’s popover).

Open it from anywhere

The global shortcut — ⇧⌘C by default — shows and hides Consistent Notes from any app. Change it in Settings → Shortcuts if it clashes with something you use.

Write every day

Turn on Enable daily reminder in Settings → General → Reminders and pick a time. macOS will ask permission to send notifications the first time.

Keep todos flowing

Settings → General → Roll Over Todos copies unfinished todos from previous days into today’s entry automatically. Off by default — the app asks you each morning instead.
