Write your first entry, check off a todo, and find your streak — the two-minute tour of Consistent Notes.
This page is the whole app in two minutes: open it, write, check things off, close it. Everything else in these Docs is detail you can look up later.
Press ⇧⌘C (or click the Consistent Notes icon in your menu bar). The app opens over whatever you were doing.
Today’s entry is already there, with the date at the top. You never create an entry — each day has one waiting.
Type. Anything. One word counts as an entry.
Format as you go:
**bold**, *italic*, `code` — or select text and press ⌘B, ⌘I, ⌘E- then space makes a bullet- [ ] then space makes a todo checkboxSee the Markdown reference for everything.
On its own line, type - [ ] water the plants and press Return. The app continues the list for you.
Click the checkbox (or press ⌘⇧⏎) to complete a todo. Checking a parent todo checks everything nested under it.
Press ⎋ or ⇧⌘C. Everything saved on its own — entries autosave one and a half seconds after you stop typing.
Come back tomorrow and write one word. Do that for a few days and the streak counter next to the app’s name starts counting your streak.
